The Beginning of Our Journey

The journey of Kudurru Stone began many years ago during my first job at a land surveying firm. At the time, I was exclusively working in the field and had little understanding of the office operations. However, as my experience grew, I began to spend more time in the office and realized the challenges in managing projects and schedules.

The Early Challenges

Initially, we relied on a whiteboard for project and schedule management, coupled with a basic software package for client contact information. One day, the owner asked me to develop a more advanced scheduling platform using Excel. While the solution we created was functional, it was cumbersome and not ideal. This led me to explore Microsoft Access, which proved to be a much better fit for managing the scheduling of our land survey crews. We could effectively manage our crews, clients, projects, and workflows within the broader project management framework. 

 

Transition to Custom Software Development

Fast forward several years and a couple of jobs later, I started my own custom software business, specializing in Microsoft Access applications. We quickly became one of the leading developers of Access applications in the country, with a strong focus on the land surveying industry. Our expertise in both software development and land surveying made us the perfect team to address the industry's needs. 

 

Embracing Cloud Solutions

However, as our customers' needs evolved, we realized the limitations of desktop-based applications. There was a growing demand for cloud solutions that could handle project management, crew scheduling, and workflow management seamlessly. We adapted by developing web-based software that allowed our customers to access their applications from any device. This innovation enabled field crews to view schedules on their phones, managers to update schedules in real-time, and facilitated instant communication across the company. 

 

The Birth of Kudurru Stone

Despite our success with custom applications, we recognized that not every company could afford or needed a bespoke solution. This realization led to the creation of Kudurru Stone. Our platform was designed to meet the specific needs of land surveyors, providing an easy-to-use, efficient, and cost-effective solution for project management and scheduling.
